Clancy’s Tavern and Whiskey House is downtown Knoxville’s premier Irish Pub. We are located directly next door to the historic Tennessee Theatre, at the corner of Gay Street and Clinch Avenue. We serve good food and provide a relaxed atmosphere that offers a great place to meet after work for a drink or on weekends when shopping downtown.
A classic Irish pub. The pub fare is very good. We enjoyed the fried cheese curds with marinara sauce. The hot wings were crispy and delicious. The Reuben paired well with a Guinness on tap. This is a good spot to share a pint with friends.
Nice pub downtown. Recommend the blue cheese chips - really good. The Reubens were decent, but I wish they toasted the bread and added a little more sauerkraut. Personal preferences though. We’ll be back.
Excellent atmosphere and friendly service. The bar was completely filled but there's still plenty of seating nearby in the windows. Had a pint of Guinness and another of Harp. All of the usual Irish beer and whiskey and, while I didn't try the food, it looked amazing.
I went to order on the bar, and the bartender won't even turn to see me. I was there more than 5 min. He walked back and forth. I was calling him, but no luck. I saw a couple leaving a table, and we sat down the waitress. On the other hand, it was nice and friendly. Other than the bartender ignoring me, my experience her was good in her.
Lunch on a moderately busy Saturday afternoon was a pleasant experience. It appeared there was one waitress and two bartenders working lunch. The waitress was quite busy so the bartenders would step in and take food orders for diners in the main dining area. We ordered the French dip, turkey club, Irish wings, and pepperoni flatbread pizza. The wings were crispy and came with a side of hot sauce (tasted like butter blended with a hot sauce), the sandwiches were tasty and came with chips and pickle spear. Flatbread was nicely charred and enough to share. The atmosphere was dark and filled with Irish memorabilia. Overall we enjoyed our meal and will be back.
