This place stays busy, and now I know why. It's awesome! We visited for breakfast on a Tuesday. We showed up 15 minutes before they opened, and still had 70+ people ahead of us. Once they opened, the line went in fast, and we were able to eat without waiting longer. Although I imagine the waits can get long. It's worth it though Staff were all very friendly, even though they stayed very busy. Breakfast is served with complimentary orange juice and banana nut muffins, which were delicious I ordered the old mill country breakfast, which is basically a sampling of everything. My wife had an omelet. And we shared a cinnamon raised pecan French toast. It was all delicious. The French toast was amazing! The biscuits and gravy were quite delicious too. Highly highly recommend. Just know the line gets long, very very long
My favorite part of the meal was the freshly cooked hot corn fritter balls and honey butter. This alone made it worth the hour and 45 minute wait. We went for dinner and most entrees come with corn chowder, side salad, 2 side dishes and a dessert which changes daily. We got the crispy fried chicken to share and added a side dish of broccoli casserole. Our server was running up and down those stairs like a track star and worked very efficiently. She was not very friendly but got our food delivered to our table quickly and refilled our glasses when they were low. Our broccoli casserole was like they were scraping the bottom of the pan, so dry and hard, but they made it right and replaced it. They wanted to make sure we were completely happy with our food. The chicken portion was very generous and hot. This is definitely a good down-home cooking restaurant and they got people through in the quickest way without making you feel rushed. Also, they have an elevator to the main floor and another lift down to a level where your table is. Make sure to mention that you can't do stairs or you'll be climbing! We took the chocolate cake to-go and it was so good!
The Old Mill Restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The food is also really good. We had fried chicken and chicken and dumplings. Our soups were corn chowder and vegetable beef. (The corn chowder has clam juice so those with a seafood allergy be aware). The Old Mill Restaurant has a charming and cozy atmosphere even though it is very busy. Our waitress was very nice and added to our experience. I would recommend being prepared to wait for a little while before being seated.
After a quick search of "Best Places to Eat in Pigeon Forge" we selected The Old Mill Restaurant. We parked rather far away, but that was not a problem as the walk itself was beautiful. We had about an hour wait. Again, not a problem as we enjoyed our time in the General Store. Once we were seated we were greeted by the loveliest server, Marta. I think she was probably one of the most efficient, attentive and friendliest servers we've ever had ANYWHERE! The food arrived timely and was absolutely fantastic. When ordering you meal you automatically get a cup the the best Corn Chowder I've ever tasted, corn fritters, bread and a salad to start. WOW. For our main dishes we ordered the Country Fried Steak and Turkey with Cornbread Stuffing. Both were cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty. These meals arrived with mashed potatoes and green beans. Our meal ended on a sweet note with a selection of desserts, which we ordered banana pudding. I highly recommend Old Mill Restaurant if you're in the area. It is well run and in watching the overall operation, i can say it is genuinely one of the best restaurants we've ever been to..at home, in our travels or beyond.
Loved the vibe and history of this place. We're visiting from Louisiana and our server happened to be from Louisiana too.. thought that was neat. Great service and the food was great! I had the chicken and dumplings which were superb. Loved the green beans, corn chowder, and the corn fritters!
