Located in the children's museum. The park rager volunteer was very helpful. The exhibit was well organized and informative.

It is literally just a desk with info on it - the guy at the children's museum ticket desk is right there and he has the park stamps and I'm sure he could answer questions, but it's not like there's a park ranger there, and I was there on a Saturday. In fact, I kinda had to dodge parents, kids, and strollers to even get to the desk, so just don't expect too much. There is a great map and some good brochures, so definitely make it your first stop before you look around town.

I wonder what even keeps the doors open on this "museum". The admission price for adults is 8.00 and is free for children under 2. Although it is touted as a museum for children I would not bring any child here since there are very little things that they can touch, relate to or explore. The majority of the space holds framed pictures of people and relics from different cultures that have no information attached to them. The building smells like a funeral home and gives me personally more of a creepy stay away feeling then a welcoming vibe. If you were thinking of visiting here just keep driving and throw your money out the window. You will have a better time and at least someone will find your money you threw out and put it to good use.

We arrived in Oak Ridge last night too late. The site was closed for the evening. So we got a room in a nearby hotel for $150. This morning we went to the site at 10:00 am. Other people arrived too! But no Ranger showed up to open the door. People at the adjacent children’s museum said Ranger attendance is unreliable. So after a while we left and drove on. This no-show cost us money and driving time. Call before going there to make sure it is open.

Although there’s not much to do at this visitor center, the park ranger is very informative and willing to help with any type of questions! If you have a National Park Stamp book, don’t forget to bring it as they have two stamps here! Make sure to check out all the things to see in Oak Ridge as there’s a lot of history around!
