The mission of the McClung Museum is to advance understanding and appreciation of the earth and its peoples through the collection, preservation, study, interpretation, and exhibition of objects and data. As a part of the University of Tennessee, the museum works to support academic programs and provide educational programming.
The McClung is a natural history and culture museum with exhibits on anthropology, geology, archaeology, human origins, history, decorative arts, ancient Egypt, and natural history. Please see our Exhibits to get a better idea of what will be on display during your visit.
The museum store carries a wide selection of unique items, including local art, jewelry, books, one-of-a-kind gift items, stationery, and educational toys, including items that pertain to our current exhibits.
