The historical Turnpike Gatehouse after the government vacated surrounding areas. Roads were build, secret structures were created. Security was a absolute necessity and Gatehouse Security buildings were created and used during the late 40's-50's and throughout the 70's . Lose lips sick ships. Security was Paramount controlling the flow of vehicles going in and out. Was the responsibility of the Gatehouse Security..

Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot to do here. I don't know if the place is ever unlocked, but you can look through the windows to peep inside. There is a trail behind it and a pretty good sized parking lot. Across the street is the other part of the gate. It's a good place to check out if you are in the area to learn about the Manhattan Project and the town that didn't exist. It is one of a couple in the area and on the National Historic Registery.
